Designed and built a complete data center for a pharmaceutical company.
The project required the rebuilding of a data center of a pharmaceutical company with 20 remote offices. A multilayer network was designed and installed with end-to-end redundancy. Firewalls were installed at all sites for sit-to-site IPSec VPNs.
The customer choose to host their equipment at collocation facility. The advantage is that the facility provides redundant power with generators, climate control, fire suppression, and security. The disadvantage is that the site is 45 minutes from the office. If equipment fails the downtime would be excessive. With this in mind, ION designed redundancy at all levels. Complete network redundancy was implemented, including firewalls, routers, and switches. Server redundancy was implemented in the use of clusters and multi-homed servers.DNS, File and Print, Database, and application servers and clusters were installed. Redundant EMC SANS were installed with mirroring. A company wide security policy was written and implemented. Security awareness training was conducted. |
